Do you remember the 1980’s song by the Bangle’s, Manic Monday?
The lyric goes…
It’s just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
‘Cause that’s my funday
My I don’t have to runday
It’s just another manic Monday
Well, today was our Manic Monday.
Zane had surgery on his tear ducts today. As I have mentioned in prior posts, Zane is affected by Hay Wells Syndrome of the Ectodermal Dysplasia (as am I). The syndrome causes chronic inflammation in his eyes, and his tear ducts clog up. He has had them probed and flushed four times, stints put in and stints removed. Today’s surgery was to put new stints in.
Our surgeon told us ahead of time that there was a possibility that his tear ducts may have scarred closed. The last time he had stints, the surgeon had a hard time placing them because the ducts were so tight.
We had asked many of our friends to pray that the surgeon would be able to get the stints in again.
We had to be AT the hospital by 5:45 a.m. Which meant we had to be up at 4:30 a.m.
We decided it would be easiest on everyone if we just took Selah with us as well. Otherwise, we would have had to get up at 4 to drop her off at a sitter and still get to the hospital. We made it out of the house and to the hospital on time with both kids in tow.
Here’s my little guy before his surgery.
And here he is shortly after we saw him in recovery.
Poor little guy. He has two black eyes. Here his is at home, in Daddy’s lap.
Yes, it was a Manic Monday. Early morning, long waits, cranky kids (did I mention Selah chose today to cut a molar?)…
However, Zane’s surgery was a success, praise God. The surgeon came back and told us that it was even more difficult to place the stints this time, and that he had to make an incision in the right nostril to pull that stint all the way through. He plans to leave the stints in longer this time, so hopefully we won’t have to do this so quickly after removal.
And for that, all I can say is thank you, Lord. I am convinced that it was only by prayer, and the favor of the Lord, that the surgeon was able to get the stints in.
So, here’s hoping Tuesday is a little calmer!
Be blessed,
Virginia
