Be blessed, Virginia [aka Lady V dZine]I have chronic back pain. Have had since at least 1996. At least, that’s as far back as I remember it. Because I worked as a nurse, anytime I would go to the doctor over back pain, they would presume that I had pulled something, give me some muscle relaxers and ibuprofen, and send me on my way. Until I moved to Chicago, that is. I knew that it was more than just a pulled muscle. So, when I saw a new physician and demanded answers. After an MRI, it was determined that I have degenerative disc disease, and should be on anti-arthritic medication. I was 24 at the time. Fast forward ten years, three different anti-arthritic medications, and multiple epidural steroid injections for pain management… Brian and I invested in a brand new mattress set when we got married, because we knew that having a good mattress would go a long way toward keeping my back healthy. Even still, with chronic back pain, it is often difficult to get comfortable enough to fall asleep, and when I do fall asleep, difficult to stay asleep. So, when I received an opportunity to review a memory foam mattress topper from SleepJoy.com, I agreed with hopes that it would help my sleep habits. We chose the 3” CoolTop because of the added air circulation benefit. During the winter, I freeze but because of all the blankets I pile on, Brian roasts. I’ve used foam mattress toppers in the past, and they were like an OVEN. So, the ventilation factor was key.
When the mattress topper came in, I unrolled it and placed it on the bed. It definitely had a faint scent of green tea, though it was not overpowering. Because our current mattress is a pillow-top, I was concerned that the topper skirt would not fit correctly. I had no need to worry, though, because the skirt is deep and fit well over the mattress and could even be stretched to cover the box spring. The cotton cover is contoured and thick. It is wonderfully soft to the touch! Once I got the bed remade with the CoolTop in place, I was excited to try it out. But, Z beat me to it. We’ve been sleeping on the SleepJoy for over a month now, and I have to say, it is absolutely wonderful. Because the foam topper relieves pressure points, I find that I can fall asleep much faster. And for the first time in years, I am actually able to sleep ON MY BACK. And whether it is because of the Sleep Joy itself, or a side benefit of improved sleep, my pain levels are improved. Which means I can do more. Which makes me happy. Brian actually likes it, as well. We have both joked about our bed being the most comfortable place in the house. I would certainly recommend the SleepJoy.com products to anyone looking to stretch the life of their mattress or improve their sleep habits. We’ve both been sleeping like babies. What sweet sleep! Disclosure- The marketing team for SleepJoy.com provided me a complimentary 3” CoolTop mattress topper to facilitate my honest review. No other compensation was received. Be blessed, Virginia [aka Lady V dZine]I don’t know if you noticed the stepstool pictured in my BabyLegs Review and Giveaway post, but it is next up on my Potty Party Shopping Guide. The Little Looster is THE must have booster for the loo for those little legs don’t reach the floor.
We received the Little Looster for review, and LOVE it. As you can see, the Little Looster is shaped like a “U” or horseshoe. It fits around the base of the toilet perfectly, and provides ample room for toddlers to climb onto and off of the toilet. With it’s molded “cut-outs” it can remain in place even when adults have to use the bathroom. In the kids bathroom, the toilet is in cramped quarters, with the vanity on one side and the tub on the other. The Little Looster fits perfectly and doesn’t have to be shuffled about to make room when the bathroom is being used by adults. It has certainly helped increase confidence in our two. And Z loves the fact that it has a “tunnel” where he can hide his toys for later retrieval. I love the fact that the Little Looster is mompreneur designed and manufactured in the USA. The Little Looster retails for $39.99 and, in my opinion, is worth EVERY cent. Do you have cramped quarters in your bathroom? Be blessed, Virginia [aka Lady V dZine]Having traveled to El Salvador three times on missions, I’ve long known I wanted Spanish to be a second language for my children. I just didn’t know how I was going to teach them. I didn’t start learning Spanish until I was in junior high school, and always wished I had started earlier. While in Chicago at the Baby Show, I won a Boca Beth bilingual Spanish/English set for the kids. Included in the set that I won were the My First Songs in Spanish music CD, the Mi Casa/My House bilingual education DVD, and the Boca Beth Bilingual Language Learning Activity Book.
We’ve been watching the DVD for several weeks now, and the kids absolutely love it. Their favorite part is the “Yo se los dias de la Semana” (I know the Days of the Week) song and the “Beso es un kiss” (Kiss is a Beso) song . They frequently ask me to sing “Boca” and since these are the only songs I have memorized so far, they are what I sing. They enjoy the motions that I do with the Days of the Week song, and the fact that they get kisses with Beso song. They also enjoy coloring the pages from their “Boca Book.” So, what do you do when you have one Boca Book and two kids? Well, of course you go online and sign up for the Boca Beth newsletter, which gives you access to Free Bilingual Coloring/Activity pages, in addition to language cards and activity ideas. I absolutely love the fact that I can introduce my children to Spanish so early on. With Boca Beth, you can raise a bilingual child! The Boca Beth Beginner set, which includes a DVD, CD, BOCA puppet, 40 page coloring book and an instruction guide, is a perfect kit for learning Spanish, as it adds fun to language learning. You can now purchase the Boca Beth Beginner Kit in my OpenSky store for $35. Learn more about Boca Beth by following Boca Beth on Facebook and Twitter. And keep watching, because I will have an exclusive Boca Beth giveaway coming up soon! Disclosure- I won the Boca Beth set in a giveaway. Have you entered my current giveaways? Be blessed, Virginia [aka Lady V dZine]Early this summer, perhaps it was even spring, my husband and I were chatting and somehow the topic of outdoor movies came up. We both agreed it would be cool if we could watch movies in the backyard with the kids, and from time to time have people over to watch an outdoor movie. Thus, my husband’s summer project was born. He did a lot of research, and a lot of planning, and then started pulling out the soffit we just had installed last year… to install braces for what would soon become outdoor speaker mounts… Of course, he was able to put it all back. Does anyone in your family adopt summer projects? Have you entered my current giveaways? Be sure to check out the Rules and Bonus Entries Page to maximize your chances of winning! Be blessed, Virginia [aka Lady V dZine]Ah. Nothing beats the smell of a great candle. Don’t you agree? A great candle can improve your mood as it permeates the atmosphere. SC Johnson has just introduced a GREAT new scent in The Fragrance Collection by Glade, and thanks to the Family Review Network, I was able to review it.
The Fragrance Collection by Glade is available in a Reed Diffuser, 3-wick soy-based candle, and soy-based candle.
The Fragrance Collection is currently available in four scents. I chose the Lemongrass & Citrus, which is new, because I thought it would go well in the kitchen. As with many homes, the kitchen is a busy place in our home. And I could use some aromatherapy in there at times. The Fragrance Collection Candles come in a nice little jar with a silver-toned lid. The candle label is a peel-able label, so it can easily be removed to add to the charm of the jar. This is one little jar that will be re-appropriated to my craft area once the candle has burned out. The candle is a 3-wick and the scent is very crisp and clean. I can say that I really love this scent, and I plan to buy more. Buy it… The Fragrance Collection by Glade is available at local retailers and on Amazon.com. Win it… Glade Fragrance Collection would like to offer one lucky Lady V dZine reader an item from The Fragrance Collection. Mandatory entry… Visit Glade and comment back with what product AND scent you would like to try from The Fragrance Collection. Bonus entries–

Be blessed, Virginia [aka Lady V dZine]Stlouisbid.com is the Premier St. Louis Penny Auction site where you can bid on tickets, gift cards, electronics, music, and OH SO MUCH MORE for just pennies on the dollar! Stlouisbid was founded in early 2010 by Scott James & Dave Shimchick (my brother). Scott and Dave are working hard to bring items to stlouisbid.com that other auction sites do not offer. For example, tickets for concerts and sporting events in St. Louis. Club memberships. Trips away from home. You never know what you might find on stlouisbid.com. How does the site work? It’s pretty simple, actually. You simply purchase bid packets, then use your bids on the items you would like to win. If your bid is the last one standing when the timer runs out, you WIN! For example, this 8 megapixel camera is currently being auctioned off… That’s right, the current bid is 2 cents! For a $119.00 camera! Want to bid on it? Simply click the hyper-linked title, and it will bring you to this screen… The product description details the current bid, the time remaining on the auction, the bid history, and product description. It also fully discloses what the taxes and shipping fees will be, as well as what your total savings will be at the current bid price. If you decide you want to place your bid, you simply click the Bid button, and it will place your bid, adding one penny to the current bid. Stlouisbid.com just auctioned a camera just like this one last week for 3 cents! Stlouisbid.com just inked a contract with Z107.7 The contract will garner them advertising on SIX stations. The phenomenal thing about that is the reach that it will have. Fan Stlouisbid.com on Facebook and tell them that Virginia sent you! So, get your bid packs now, and bid on St. Louis! I’ve got my bid pack… and I am about to change the bid on that camera! Disclosure- http://cmp.ly/0/dq7d2h Have you entered my current giveaways? Be blessed, Virginia [aka Lady V dZine]In preparing for homeschool preschool, we are stocking up on a few Mommy Preschool Must Have DVD’s. And because my kids are infatuated with one furry red monster, the first on the list of DVD’s is Sesame Street’s Preschool Is Cool- ABCs with Elmo.
As you all know, we have a few monster fans in the house. It started with Zane, but he has convinced Selah that Elmo is just about the coolest monster on the block. “Momo” as Selah calls him, is too funny in this cute DVD that teaches kids all about the alphabet. In Preschool is Cool- ABCs with Elmo, Professor Grover is very lovable indeed, as he often needs the help of Elmo in remembering which letter comes next. This DVD is definitely a must have for anyone wanting to interject a little fun into learning this preschool fundamental! It is fun, educational, and attention holding. It may also result in surprising outbursts of song and dance. Buy it… Preschool is Cool- ABCs with Elmo is available on Amazon.com. Mandatory Entry… Simply leave a comment telling me who the DVD would be for and who your favorite character is. ***Please note- this must be done before any bonus entries will count*** Bonus entries–
