I don’t know…

January 3rd, 2010

As I mentioned in my Looking back, and looking ahead post, my husband Brian and I are enjoying the third year of our honeymoon.  As we approach our 4th wedding anniversary this month, I marvel at how fortunate I am to call him my husband!

For many years, I prayed that the Lord would enable me to be a Proverbs 31 wife.  I also prayed that the Lord would grant me a Psalm 1 husband.

Psalm 1: 1-6 (NIV) says…

Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.

But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
       Whatever he does prospers.

Not so the wicked!
       They are like chaff
       that the wind blows away.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

That’s my husband.

Throughout our relationship, I have oft said to him, “I don’t know what I did to deserve you, but I am sure glad I did.”

When I saw the Fruit of the Spirit: Love by Melissa Daniel at ScrapDish, I knew it was perfect to scrap this sentiment.

Photography Challenge

January 3rd, 2010

I love photography, so I am pleased as punch to be hosting the January Photography Challenge over at Pretty Scrappy.

For the challenge this month, I want you to either find or take a picture of an inanimate object (toy, book, recipe card, car, house, etc) that has special meaning to you or the person you are scrapping for, and then scrap the picture. Be sure to journal about the significance of the item. You may include the person that the item is special to in the layout, however, the main/focus photo should be of the object itself.

As I was growing up, my Mom used to say that the older you get, the faster time flies.  Of course, then I thought she was a little loco.  But now, as I realize that the sands of November and December flew through the hour glass at record speed, I know that she was right!

As I embark on a new year, I cannot help but think of how extremely blessed my family was in 2009.  In spite of the economic downturn experienced world- wide, we have many blessings to count, and here are just a few…

Brian and I enjoyed the third year of our honeymoon.

On Valentine’s 2009, our daughter, Selah was born.

We finalized Selah’s adoption in September 2009.

We had the opportunity to travel and visit with family in 2009, as well as take a family vacation.

I joined Mom’s Club of Florissant and have made several new friends.

I started volunteering at Day Spring Foursquare Pantry and LOVE it.

I know that 2009 was a rough year for many, and it was not without it’s challenges for us as well, but I held fast to the hope I have in Christ Jesus, and He does not fail.

Here’s to 2010.

May the Lord bless you and cause His face to shine upon you.

Be blessed,

Woot, woot!

I am excited that I get to host the Photography Challenge at Pretty Scrappy for November.  I am a bit late in posting this, because we have had a yucky upper respiratory virus circulating our home.  But, now that we are all on the mend, sans the nagging cough, I am hoping to be more productive!!!

For this month’s photography challenge, I would like to see photos of funny faces or funny moments. Scrap a page with your photo, upload it to the Photography Challenge category in the Pretty Scrappy gallery, then link us up here.

Participants will receive Pretty Scrappy challenge points.

I will come back with my funny face layout.

Be blessed!
